The National Electrification Administration (NEA) has crafted plans anew to intensify the Rural Electrification (RE) Program and capacitate its partner electric cooperatives (ECs) following NEA Administrator Edgardo Masongsong’s vow for a more strengthened partnership between the Agency and the ECs.
In the NEA 2017 Strategic Thinking Conference-Workshop held on December 26-28, 2016 at the NEA Building, Diliman, Quezon City, Administrator Masongsong batted for multi-pronged initiatives that will not only accelerate the energization of unlit areas in the country, but will also make the services of the Agency more responsive to the needs of the ECs and the electricity consumers.
“Under my leadership, I want the NEA to be more consumer-focused. We will work together with the electric cooperatives in rolling out programs that fully tap the potential of rural electrification to enhance people’s productivity and make them active partners in building sustainable rural communities,” Administrator Masongsong said. On February 21, 2017, representatives from the DOE, DPWH, NEA, Electric Cooperatives and Representative Carlos Roman Uybarreta finally met at the DOE to discuss the joint DOE-DPWH Circular on relocation compensation of electric cooperatives’ facilities. Present in the said meeting were Undersecretary Petronilo Ilagan of DOE, Undersecretary Karen Jimeno of DPWH, Division Manager Federico Villar of NEA’s Technical Operations Division, PHILRECA President Jose Raul Saniel, PHILRECA GM Wendell Ballesteros, QUEZELCO II GM Victor Cada and ISECO GM Egdon Sabio.

Ang CAGAYAN II ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE, INC. ay naki-isa sa BRIGADA ESKWELA 2016 ng Department of Education na may temang “Tayo Para sa Paaralang Ligtas, Maayos, at Handa mula Kindergarten hanggang Senior High School.”
Ang BRIGADA ESKWELA KURYENTE CHECK ay isinasagawa taun-taon ng CAGELCO II upang masiguro ang kaligtasan ng mga mag-aaral at guro sa loob ng paaralan sa anumang sakuna na maaaring idulot ng mga linya ng kuryente.
CAGELCO II was given a Special Award for being a Triple A (AAA) Electric Cooperative and was also identified as an Electric Cooperative which contributed to the Sitio Electrification Program since 2011-2015 during the 2015 NEA-EC Milestones and Recognition Ceremony of the National Electrification Administration (NEA) last December 02, 2015 at the PICC, Plenary Hall, Pasay City. Kabilang sa pagdiriwang ng ika-37 na Anibersaryo ng CAGELCO II, isang Community Outreach Program ang inilunsad upang handugan ang mga mag-aaral, guro, at ilang kababayan natin sa probinsiya ng Cagayan at Apayao na sakop ng Kooperatiba.
Sa iba’t ibang paraan ginunita ng bawat Sub-office at Main Office ang naturang selebrasyon na maituturing na isang maagang pamasko ng CAGELCO II.
Ang Gattaran Sub-Office (GATSO) ay namigay ng school supplies tulad ng lapis, krayola, at papel sa mga estudyante ng L. Adviento Elementary School, Gattaran, Cagayan. Maging ang Ballesteros Sub-Office ay namahagi rin ng gamit pampaaralan sa mga mag-aaral ng Macugay Elementary school, Ballesteros, Cagayan at Quirino Elementary School, Luna, Apayao. Kahon ng tsok naman ang iniabot sa mga guro ng nasabing paaralan.
In contribution to the country’s quest for a greener Philippines, CAGELCO II, once again, participated in the 2015 Nationwide Tree Planting Program initiated by the National Electrification Administration (NEA) in partnership with the Electric Cooperatives nationwide.
Employees in each of the Sub-offices, together with the Department of Environment and National Resources (DENR) representatives and Local Government Unit (LGU) officials and employees, planted a total of 600 Mahogany trees, 50 Cacao seedlings and 25 Rambutan seeds in their respective areas.
A general maintenance plan was also formulated to ensure growth of plants and trees as CAGELCO II and NEA’s support towards climate change mitigation and sustainable development.
