The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region II formally turned over canteen tools and equipment to the CAGELCO II through DOLEโs Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), marking a significant milestone in the cooperativeโs continuous pursuit of employee empowerment and sustainable livelihood. The turnover ceremony also included the blessing of the newly established canteen located at the CAGELCO II Main Office on May 20, 2025.
DOLEโs Integrated Livelihood Program aims to uplift vulnerable communities and contribute to national development. Among the 18 unions in Region II, only CAGELCO IIโs Labor Union, in partnership with its Labor Management Committee (LMC), was selected as a grant recipient testament to the cooperativeโs commitment to excellence and strong collaboration with DOLE.
DOLE Region II Regional Director, Mr. Jesus Elpidio B. Atal, Jr., MNSA, personally led the turnover. In his message, he emphasized the significance of the grant and asked everyone to take care of it so that each member can benefit through this program.
CAGELCO II received โฑ750K worth of tools and equipment to support the establishment of its new canteen, a modest yet significant facility designed to serve employees while creating livelihood opportunities. To further support the livelihood program, the cooperative has generously provided the building space along with free electricity for its operations.
CAGELCO II General Manager, Engr. Rudolph Q. Adviento, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to DOLE for their continued support. He added that said grant is already the third time that DOLE has extended its assistance to the cooperative. Additionally, he stated that the said grant reflects the cooperativeโs good standing and strong coordination with DOLE.
Labor Union President, Mr. Niel T. Borja, shared the story behind the initiative, noting that the process of applying for the grant was long and laborious. But with the commitment of the LMC and the support of DOLE, the project was made possible. Now, everyone has a responsibility to pursue its success and enable our employees to benefit from the income it generates through this livelihood.
The event was graced by guests from DOLE, Laura B. Diciano, Provincial Head of the Cagayan Field Office; Cristy Ann Mae T. Mamba, ALI Labor and Employment Officer II; and Felivi Tuddao, Livelihood Development Specialist and CAGELCO IIโs Management, including Ms. Kristine T. Basquez, ISD Manager and LMC Chairperson, as well as Dir. Elina Taloza (District VI) and Dir. Gilda A. Rabanal (District III), who came in support of this significant achievement.
This milestone reflects not only the resilience and dedication of CAGELCO IIโs workforce but also the power of meaningful partnerships in creating livelihood opportunities that enrich lives and empower communities.
