The Cagayan II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CAGELCO II) conducted four Switch-on Ceremonies to celebrate the energization of eight far-flung communities under the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP), benefiting a total of 190 indigent families under its coverage area.

On April 1, 2026, electricity finally reached Sitios Anungo, Opencut, and Pannaw in Barangay Lydia, Pudtol, Apayao, as well as Sitio Ilustrisimo in Fugu, Ballesteros, and its pass-by Sitio, Sitio Caroronan in Binalan, Aparri, Cagayan. This was followed by another set of energization ceremonies on April 7, 2026, covering Sitios Dammang Sur and Zicunig in Barangay Dammang Sur, Camalaniugan, Cagayan, and Sitio San Felipe in Malayugan, Flora, Apayao. Not just brighter homes are provided for these humble families as these Sitios are finally connected to the grid, but the energization is expected to help residents in their daily livelihood and offer better opportunities for the children in their communities.

The switch-on ceremonies were led by CAGELCO II General Manager Engr. Rudolph Q. Adviento, together with the Cooperatives Board Directors - Dir. Marilyn B. Donato, Dir. Lucrecia V. Concepcion, Dir. Raymundo T. Castañeda, and Dir. Gilda A. Rabanal.

Also, gracing the occasion were Local Chief Executives namely Pudtol Mayor Hon. Edmar D. Pascua, Camalaniugan Mayor Hon. Isidro T. Cabaddu and Flora Mayor Hon. Jeofrey T. Blas, who expressed their gratitude to the Cooperative for the benefits of the program to their constituents. In support of the initiative, these LGUs likewise waived the applicable fees for securing the necessary permits.

The events were likewise attended by other local officials, community members, and other representatives from CAGELCO II.

The Sitio Electrification Program is a government initiative aimed at bringing electricity to remote and underserved communities. It is implemented by Electric Cooperatives such as CAGELCO II under the supervision of the National Electrification Administration (NEA), with support from the Local Government Units.

The electrification of these areas was funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), which targets the energization of 23 Sitios. Through this program, CAGELCO II continues to advance rural development and improve the quality of life of its Member-Consumer-Owners. ###
